"One Word Is Too Often Profaned" - one of my favourites

Well, I read this one during my schooling.
And yesterday while we were having tea at the famous Rabdi(tea stall at our college) I and my friend Nikunj Kakkad - the nirdosh were recalling this one. So I thought of posting it today.
This is a famous one by P.B. Shelly.
You will like it.
here it goes...

ONE word is too often profaned
For me to profane it,
One feeling too falsely disdain'd
For thee to disdain it.
One hope is too like despair
For prudence to smother,
And pity from thee more dear
Than that from another.

I can give not what men call love;
But wilt thou accept not
The worship the heart lifts above
And the Heavens reject not:
The desire of the moth for the star,
Of the night for the morrow,
The devotion to something afar
From the sphere of our sorrow?

Patni - Campus Interview at DAIICT

Patni's Campus Interview was held at DAIICT on 6th of April, 2010.
www.patni.com
It was a joint campus interview with students from Nirma, DAIICT, SVNIT and LDCE.
Criteria: 60% in 10th, 12th and College.

The reporting time was 9:30 hrs at Lecture Room 3.
We were 20 minutes before time.
But the procedure stated only after 9:50 hrs.

First it was a pre-placement talk which lasted till 11:15.

The written test started at 12:00 hrs sharp. The test included 40 questions. 1/4 negative marking. With questions from passage, grammar, quant and data interpretation.
The test was really easy. I attempted 31 questions. The test ended at 13:00 hrs. And we were told to come back at 13:45 hrs. room for results. Thanks to the management of DAIICT and HR team of Patni, the result were announced on time.
21 students got selected from LDCE for PI(including me).

The further rounds were to be held in the CCP building. I and my friend(Amit) had gone for some refreshments. Due to which we got late for the next round. To everyone surprise the next round was email writing. We were given a situation on which we had to write an email. It was not an elimination round. We were also give forms to fill up. After all this we were to give our CVs and a passport size photograph. We both were late for this round but were the first to submit all the documents. So we were the among the first 5 to be called for the interview.
The other 3 included one LDite, Chirag, from IT. It was his first interview in his life and so he was very nervous. He was requesting HR coordinator to push back his interview to the last. But the coordinator was cool, she advised him not to get nervous. Even I and Amit told him not to worry much about the interview. And while we were talking he was called for the interview.
The interview was held in a room on the ground floor of CCP building. Initially there were 4 panels. And i was the 5th one. I waited for few minutes and Chirag came out from the interview. He was so happy and the glow on his face told me that his interview was really very good. I did not talk with him, because it was my turn now. I went inside the room, but was asked to wait outside the cabin as the HR was busy with Chirag's "HR formalities." From the opposite cabin I could hear Amit talking to hi HR. Amit was at his best. I could hear him making HR clear about his views on current Education System. I was not getting nervous(and that made me nervous...:D ).
Finally I was called in.
The interviewer was a very good person. He never fired any questions on me. He just asked me in a very simple and decent tone. I was asked some 13-14 questions and I made him clear on all my points. He was very happy with my performance and this made me more confident. My interview was totally HR. No, Technical Questions at all. Finally my interview ended. And was time to wait for the results.

Later the number of panels was increased to 8. And all the interviews were over by 19:00 hrs.
The result was to be mailed to the TPO the next day.

But the next day the Patni was on a campus at DDIT, Nadiad.
So the results were not declared on 7th, It was the 9th evening which came up with good news(from Vishali, IT dept.). We 3 friends got selected(Me, Kavan and Amit). 5 from Computer branch, 2 from IT and 2 from EC.
Overall it was a good experience. The management by the training and placement cell of DAIICT was really very good. Thanks to the TPO and his team.
And I am really happy with the results...:)

Tips:
1)For Written Test: Practice R.S. Aggrawal or solve TCS papers.(I did not do either)
2)For Interview: Just be confident and clear about your views regarding any topic, during the interviews.

"My Story" - R. Sriram @ LDCE

What a session at the end of the EDP by TiE and LAA at Aryabhatta Hall, L.D. College of Engineering.
Never thought in the morning that the session would be such delightful

The session began at 12:50 hrs, due to delay in Mr R. Sriram's flight.
It began with introductory session from Kaushal Mehta, President, TiE. He introduced the audience with the dignitaries, starting with Chirag Mehta, CEO, Icenet. Then coming to Mr. M. N. Patel, Principal, LD College of Engineering, followed by Mr. Anand Patel, Head of LAA, General Manager, Appolo. As well as introduction of Mrs Anu Sutariya, co-ordinator, TiE, Ahmedabad Chapter. The introductory session ended with brief of TiE and the Entrepreneur Development Program started by TiE and LAA at LDCE.

After the introductory session, started "My Story", by R.Sriram, co-founder, Crossword.
Through the session, he told us about how the idea of Crossword came up, how he managed through all the odds, how the Crossword came to Ahmedabad, the idea of book browsing, toilets and cafe at Crossword and also told how to target customers.

He summed up the entire session with the inspirational lines
"Risk more than others think is safe,
Care more than others think is wise,
Dream more than others think is practical,
Expect more than others think is possible."
-Claude T(homas) Bissell

This was followed by some Q&A from the audience which was equally interesting. To one of the question he said that "No one gives degree for failure". Elaborating more he said, one should not be afraid of failures. We should take it positively. Its a degree for knowing what not to do.
In an answer to another question he said he never decided 'what to do if the Crossword project fails". He never thought of Plan B. But he even added that what worked for him may not work for everyone.
To the end of the Q&A he advised one of the budding entrepreneur(who was desperate to enter into a Restaurant Business, but did not have capital) to work in the field he wants to start business in and gain experience in that field. Because only then a person gets insight of the business he wants to start.

The session thus ended. This was followed by a press conference in the TP(Training and Placement) Office!!! Yes!! Even i was surprised. A press conference being held in TP Office. Amazing!!!

After all this, it was time for lunch. All the TiE members were invited to the Amazo, Restaurant near St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad.
We the EDP students were also invited. It was amazing moment for 6 of us. Having lunch with successful entrepreneurs and the Mr. Sriram too.
After the lunch, Mr. Sriram talked with all of us and gave some ideas about how can one be a successful entrepreneur. He said that entrepreneurship is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. Its a mystery. One has to explore and innovate. He also told about the vision and culture an entrepreneur should have. He also recommended us to read 'Making Breakthrough Innovations Happen' by Porus Munshi Summing up again with those 4 lines the 15 minutes discussion came to an end.
We all dispersed with handshakes and some humorous comments. That was all about some unforgettable moments of the day.
I wish such moments keep coming...
